Kiwi Overland with Sir Peter Tapsell and Professor Frank Brosnahan

Kiwi Overland February -May 1999

In 1999 some friends and I drove from Mumbai India to London overland. We called the trip Kiwi Overland. We shipped the vehicle from Tauranga New Zealand to India, and when it arrived there we all flew over and spent 1 very amusing week clearing it through Indian customs. We then began a journey very few have ever experienced.

Early this week one member of the trio Professor Frank Brosnahan passed away aged 89. Frank made this trip incredibly interesting as he was able to discuss in detail both the history of the people of each country as we travelled through, including an account of their language. Frank Brosnahan was without doubt one of the most interesting men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and his memory will forever be in my heart.
Sir Peter Tapsell regularly phones me to talk about the trip which he describes as the greatest event of his life.
I have some 60 hrs of high definition broadcast quality video of the trip along with some 1500 slides, which one day I hope will find their way into an edit room so that this historic and enjoyable event will be better covered.

The story below I wrote for Driver Magazine published in 1999.
